ABOUT
Sage Helperman, born in 1995, is a live painter, multimedia artist and graphic designer from Colorado.
He has been exhibiting and performing at galleries, live concerts, music festivals, restaurants, cafes, and more since 2015. Sage has painted live at many concerts for musical artists and groups such as Little Star, Tyler Grant, Rush Hour Train, Jaden Carlson, Hot Tuna, Steve Kimock, The Magic Beans, Melvin Seals, Dynamic Distraction, Falli, John Wayne & The Pain, Project 432, Graham Good & The Painters, Jaw Gems, Erothyme, Part & Parcel, Aqueous, Subtleties, Gas Can Boys, Miss Jaedha, Raptor, BOGZILLA, Octave Cat, Phour.O, The Kity Project, House with a Yard, Dead Set with Dave A'Bear, and many more. Some festivals that Sage has either painted at or has been a part of in some form are Pastels on 5th, Music on the Mothership, Beanstalk Music & Mountains Festival, Startribe, Meow Wolf Taos Vortex, Nedfest, Shamanic Boom: Activation, Pancakes & Booze Art Show, The Eclectic Exhibition, Art in The Park, Colorado Organic Sessions, BlissFall Music & Arts Festival, Medicine for the Movement, YardStock, and more. While Sage has been a creative individual for nearly his entire existence so far, it has been his unique art style, personality, and showmanship that is responsible for his recent rise in the Colorado art scene.
Sage’s art is often at times indescribable and not confined to any one genre or subject. In the words of the artist himself when asked about what his art typically represents:
“My works chronicle the cosmic inner workings of the mind. Each piece is essentially a diary journal of my thoughts, feelings, and intentions as I am feeling at that moment. With each piece, I hope to transport you to a whole new world that you have never seen or experienced before. When I create art, intend it to be an overall experience, rather than just looking at lines and dots on paper.”
Sage can blur many different genres and styles into one composition, and incorporate heavy improvisation, so you never know what to expect next. Sage's favorite medium is pen and ink, although he also works with paint, pencils, charcoal, and digital. He is also an active member of various grassroots and traditional art groups such as CAVA (Colorado Alliance of Visionary Artists), the AANC (Artists Association of Northern Colorado), FoCo Friends, The Imaginative Arts Society, and CAMP FoCo.
Sage is in addition a cartoonist, which he has been most his life. He enjoys making comics about talking animals with a bit of social and political satire thrown in. If this wasn't enough, he also is a photographer and musician (he plays guitar, ukulele, percussion, and some electronica sometimes).
Be sure to be on the lookout for this up and coming Colorado artist!
